Parliant has announced, a new telephony product for Mac OS X designed especially for realtors. CurbTalker costs $895, and doesn’t require a monthly fee to operate. CurbTalker is an audio listing service that answers calls from prospects, delivers property information and transfers potential buyers to your cellphone or takes a message. It combines hardware and software you install on your Mac to turn your Mac into an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) hotline. CurbTalker will track the ads callers respond to and create per-property and brokerage-wide reports in color. All calls are logged.

CurbTalker can also integrate with PhoneValet, Parliant’s cornerstone telephony software that provides automated attendant, voice mail recording, dialing and logging capabilities. System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later, an available USB port and a Parliant USB telephone adapter, analog phone line or VoIP line that works with regular phones, Caller ID and call transfer service.

Sunny, if you know of a gas station that has recently closed or if you know people in the gas / c-store line, you can sometimes find a tobacco company 'curb talker' left over at these locations. These free standing units are usually left behind after the gas stations closes. Sometimes, the business no longer uses them for cig's, so they put the sign behind their building, or by their dumpster, just to get them out of the front of the store. The tobacco company reps have little means or interest to recover them as they are already assembled and too bulky to retreive. Plus, they have brand new ones in boxes at their disposal to use in new locations. But the pre-used ones are usually still in good shape and easy to rehabilitate. You can remove the legs (for travel) by loosening 4 nuts/bolts.
