That's right on par with what I've read so far minus a few workarounds/tips not mentioned, e.g. Installing a few washers to keep the heatsink from crushing the socket. He mentions not having Thunderbolt, it shows in my System Profiler? I'll have to check into that further. My reason for not watching the video sooner is I don't have an audio card installed to run my current sound system so I had to fire up my XP machine in order to hear the video.

For me to listen through the internal speaker on the Mac Pro I would have to lay under my desk. Can't get the headphones to work? Open unzipped folder, locate the.dmg image and double click to mount the image. Keep image mounted and go to step five. Run the Mac Pro 2009-2010 Firmware Tool. It will automatically locate the.dmg package and proceed to the next phase. Follow onscreen instructions.

Shut down, (not restart). Once completely powered off, press and hold power switch, hold until the little light above the power button begins to flash, release power button and you should hear a long tone. Wait for grey screen with Apple logo and progress bar (this is the upgrade working), it will reboot automatically. You're upgrade is complete. Now Check your System Profile to be sure it worked? (see attached images) 11.

Re-enable SIP Follow instructions above but type 'csrutil enable' without quotes in Terminal and reboot. Hope this helps other Mac Pro 2009 users who are attempting this firmware update.
