Let us know your thoughts below. It’s nice for Top-40 gigs that require Spotify songs and the jogs are very tightly aligned with supported controllers (I use the WeGO3). But, I need them to make some common sense changes. For instance, it should auto-cue the headphones to whichever new deck I load a song to. Instead, it auto-cue’s based on the crossfader position.
I would bet solid money that 1/2 of all dj’s today mix with the up-faders but all these years later and algoriddim still haven’t switched up the auto-cue. Since, I guess, I’ve already hijacked this review, let me add 2 more issues after a 4-hour gig on 1.2. The first is persistent through all of the builds and annoying, when mixing in full screen mode, randomly but reliably, once the mouse curser has disappeared after awhile (because a song is playing out and I’m using the controller to gauge my next transition) when I touch the track pad in order to start looking for another song, the Read more ». I think it’s something related to the fact that I use a WeGO3 and there are certain items that they won’t let you remap with the WeGO for some reason.
Just they aren’t an option. With Virtual DJ8, I remap the Mid EQ knob to cue/master and it works perfect. With djay, it’s as if they limit what types of functions can be mapped to certain parts of the controller. It’s arbitrary and maddening. Trust me, I’ve definitely tried everything just to solve that most basic of needs and the only thing I was allowed to use was the crossfader. I just tried this here, and indeed the WeGO3 doesn’t send MIDI messages for the mic, headphone, and master volume knobs as they are handled internally in the controller.
However all other knobs send MIDI messages and thus can be re-mapped in djay Pro. To re-map the Mid EQ knob to headphone cue/mix, open the MIDI mapping window in djay Pro, turn the EQ knob to select the corresponding mapping, and then change the “target” popup to “Mixer” and the “action” popup to “Monitor Cue/Mix”. I’ve been waiting for this update since they relesed Djay Pro i december. It works absolutly perfect with my SX, and its mapped for native mode, same as Serato, so now I get better resolution on jogweels etc. I done som remapping for my personal tast and it’s really easy. For example, I use the pads in”slicer” mode to acces the “istant effects”. I been using Traktor pro some years now but it never worked perfect with the SX, even with Pioneers own mapping.
