I have read that this drive is the best but honestly it needs it's own power supply so it may not be very portable. I installed a blu-ray optical drive in my 2011 MacBook Pro and used Mac Blu-ray Player software and it worked flawlessly. I ended up getting free updates and the software also has a built in amplifier for sound. Since then my MacBook has died (the dreaded graphics card failure) and I will be purchasing the new MacBook Pro 15' and looking to buy an external Blu-ray drive and I will also be using the Mac Blu-ray Player software again. Hope this helps. Apple Footer. This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only.
